    MILITARY: Military Note: Samuel Fish was a shoemaker in youth, but left for service in the Connecticut Volunteers. He wrote his father. "New Haven, September 16, 1776, we expect to march tomorrow for east Chester." About 1781 he went with wife, two children and brother Nathan, through a trackless forest, on horseback, to Halifax, where he became a farmer. He was a member of the Halifax (Vermont) Baptist Church. "The Fish Family in England and America"; by Lester Warren Fish; pp. 296-303; The Tuttle Publishing Company; Rutland, Vermont; 1948 (929.2 F532-2 LAPL) (FH 29.0 SR) Samuel Fish served in the Revolutionary War. Family removed to Guilford, Vermont (between) 1780-81.
