    Notes:

Henry was listed as being a resident of Clayton Township, Perry County, when it was formed 26 Dec 1817, from Muskingum, Washington and Fairfied Counties. Taken from "The History of Muskingum County", published 1880.
BIOGRAPHY: In would seem in researching the Shaner Family that Henry and Adam his brother, left Southwestern PA., about the same time or together. The main travel routes were the rivers but there were also some overland trails to
follow. Their way to Muskingum County, Ohio, could have been down the Ohio river and up the Muskingum to a point known as Duncan's Fall in Muskingum County, which was established on 7 Jan 1804, from Fairfiled and Washington
    Counties.

BIOGRAPHY: Henry was listed as being a resident of Clayton Township, Perry County, when it was formed 26 Dec 1817, from Muskingum, Washington and Fairfield Counties. Taken from "The History of Fairfield and Perry Counties",
published 1880. There is a record that shows that Henry & Margaret (Evans) Shaner, along with Frederick & Harriet Groves, Jonas & Mary Groves, Isaac & Julian Gardner and George & Hannah Mains sold their land 80 acres in all, on 28 Sep 1830. The land was the west half-NW Quarter, Sec. 1, Range 15, Twp. 15, being in Pike
Township in Pike Township of Perry County, Ohio. Land was bought by Henry Shaner on 2 Dec 1834 and it listed his residence as Athens County. The land consisted of 80 acres, the west half of the S.E. Quarter oand 40 acres, the S.E. Quarter of the S.E. Quarter in Section 32, Range 14, Township 12. This land was in Monroe Township of Perry County, Oho. Evidently he sold this and moved to Morgan Township, Gallia County, Ohio where
his is listed in the 1840 Ohio Census.

Email from Faith Shaffer to Randy Everette, dtd 26 July 1998: Faith claims the following tree belongs to this Henry, but the wife's name and daughter Sarah don't match up: Henry marries Mary Magdalene Sterner (b. 1761) and has Sarah Salome Shaner (1813-1877). Sarah marries Charles P. Shaffer (1801-1876) and has Richard Lee Shaffer (1853-?). Richard marries Zuleka Gardner (b. abt 1857) and has Robert Emerson Shaffer (1883-1965). Robert marries Rose Elizabeth martin (1886-1977) and has Robert Lee Shaffer (1910-1969) who marries Florence Feller (1910-1994). Faith must be a child of Robert Lee S. and Florence F.
