Beatrice Marie Rozhon Culpepper, born August 1909 in Cicero, IL, is the widow of Abner A. Culpepper. She lived with her husband and three sons in and around Western Springs, IL for forty years before moving to Virginia in 1967. In 1991, she and Abner moved to Titusville, FL where she is still a resident and continues to greet family and friends. The photograph was taken in 1925 after her first permanent. (Submitted by her son, Richard A. Culpepper. )

CENSUS: The 1930 census shows a Beatrice Rozhon (b 1909) as a boarder at 1934 Gunderson Ave., Chicago, Illinois. Also listed at the same address was Antoinette Rozhon (b. 1903). Both claim to have been born in Illinois. . They were living at the Van Briggle family residence (unknown why or if there was any relationship with the wife of the household "Emily - age 35". Since they aren't listed as sister-in-laws, they are probably not related to the family they lived with, but why would a family take in these two girls in their 20's?

    Notes:
Found this family on a ship manifest for the Kronprinz Wilhelm which arrived in NYC on 15 Oct 1902 (sailing from Bremen). The family was listed in the EIDB (Ellis Island Data Base) as ROZTRON but is obviously ROZHON when you look at the actual handwriting on the page. The family's last residence is listed as "Blatna". They were on their way to J. Kuskova, 464 W. 18th (Alport) in Chicago, Illinois and were travelling with a sister-in-law, Antonie Kuskova (28 yrs old). J. Kuskova is probably Antonie's husband and the surname probably doesn't end in 'ova' since that is the feminine version. More likely, the name is Kuskov or Kuska. Karel was listed as 31 yrs., Marie as 26 yrs., Marie (daughter) as 2 yrs., and Antonie.
Image of the ship manifest is onfile as Rozhon_Karel_1902_Chicago.gif
