    Notes:
    Jeremiah and Sarah and their seven children left East Haddam in 1800. They left in a small mud boat, of his own construction, and went to a point ab out one and one-half miles west of Palmyra, NY on Mud Creek. Here he located and built a grist mill. About the year 1805 he moved to Pultneyville, NY, where he built and operated a grist mill and saw mill until his death in 1811.

    Notes:
    William was a farmer and a direct descendant of the first SELBY who was a Saxon sea captain and founder of the town of Selby, Yorkshire, Engand. The town of Selby existed before the Norman Conquest in 1066. The family of William Selby sees to have sprung from William de Seleby who occurs as the Abbat's forest in 1200 AD.
