In his youth Daniel Rodman was engaged in farming, but during thewinter months he gave his time to learning the processes of woolenmanufacture. In 1843 he purchased his estate of "Mooresfield," where hesettled for life, and carried on the manufacture of kersey in his twomills, one at Mooresfield and one at Glenrock. He at Mooresfield, in hisquiet and secluded but beautiful home, Mr. Rodman spent the last fortysix years of his life. He owed his success in business to his industry,perseverance, and economy, coupled with these two precepts: "What littleyou do, do well." "Be careful in making business engagements; be morecareful in fulfilling them."

Elias Williams Brown (234) was born in No. Stonington, Conn., Aug.18, 1784. He married No. Stonington, Jan. 5, 1815 to Martha Miner,daughter of Elder Asher Miner and wife Lucy (Spalding) Miner. He was acabinet maker, and is remembered as a man of commanding appearance andfine physique.
