BIOGRAPHY: Served in Revolutionary War 1775-1779 @ White Plains & Trenton
Eliphalet Lord was descended from Thomas Lord (1585-1662). Thomas camefrom England in 1610, married and moved from Mass. to Connecticut.Eliphalet fought in the Revolutionary War. He served from 1775-1779,fighting in the battles of White Plains and Trenton. He also served onships of the Hudson River that formed the picket line across the river.After the war, he and his family moved from Conn. to NY state, first toColumbia co., then to Greene, settling in Windham. Eliphalet applied forand received a pension of $8.00 per month fro his services in the Rev.War. Upon receiving his pension, Eliphalet listed as such: 1 cow, 2tables, 1 cooking pot, 2 kettles, 5 chairs, 2 pails, 1 frying pan, 1cushion, 1 tin cu and 1 tea container, 9 cups, 3 quart bowls, 1 milk cup,14 plates, 2 tumblers, 1 corn basket, 1 chest, 1 pint cup, 1 saddle andbridle, 1 acre of farm land. Estimated worth $18.70. His pension wasgranted in 1818, and he continued to receive it until his death in 1830.Eliphalet's son, Asa, served in War of 1812 as a drummer. He too wasawarded a pension of $8 per month, plus given 80 acres of land in Jewett,Greene Co., NY. The drum he used in the war is on view at the PrattMuseum, Prattsville, NY
