    OLD MYSTIC - Morris Timothy Main, 82, lifelong resident of the OldMystic/Ledyard areas died Monday at Westerly Hospital in Westerly, R.I.
    He was born May 16, 1905 in Ledyard, son of the late Timothy andMary (Rathbun) Main.
    Mr. Main was the husband of Lucy E. (Burtch) Main. They were marriedin Ledyard in October 1929.
    Before his retirement in 1970, he was employed as the custodian atNoank Baptist Church in Noank for six years. He was previously employedas a truck driver for the former Lathrop Engine Co., of Mystic for over21 years. He also formerly worked as a trucking forman for the A.I. SavinConstruction Company.
    Mr. Main was a member of several organizations including the GrotonSportsman's Club, the Mystic Rod and Gun Club, the Alpine Club, theLantern Improvement Association and the former Polish American Club ofMystic.
    Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Richard E. Main, Sr.of Moosup and Timothy O. Main of North Stonington; a daughter Ruth Vitariof Essex; three sisters, Lizzie Hauschild of Groton, Edna Littlefield andFlora Avery, both of Stonington; seven grandchildren; and several niecesand nephews.
    Church & Allen-Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic, is incharge of the arrangements.

    LUCY MAIN
    Lucy E. (Burtch) Main, 80, formerly of Lantern Hill Road, OldMystic, wife of the late Morris Timothy Main, died Tuesday, July 27,1993, at the Mystic Manor Convalescent Center after an extended illness.
    Mrs. Main was born in Westerly, Oct. 16, 1912, the daughter of OscarI. and Florence (Johnson) Burtch. She attended the West Broad StreetSchool in Pawcatuck and was a graduate of the Westerly High School.
    She was employed as a housekeeper for area homes, and had beenemployed at the Old Mystic Motor Inn.
    She was a member of the Old Mystic Fire Department Ladies'Auxillary, the Long Pond Improvement Association, and the former LanternHill Mother's Club.
    Mrs. Main also had served as a consultant to the local Girl ScoutCouncils, and had taught classes out of her home for the Girl Scouts andBay Scouts who were in the process of earning nature badges.
    She is survived by two sons, Richard E. Main, Sr. of Moosup, Conn.,and Timothy O. Main of North Stonington; a daughter, Ruth M. Vatari ofEssex, Conn., a brother, Raymond Burtch of Stonington; a sister, MelvaMurphy of Westerly; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; andseveral nieces and nephews.

    Mrs. Sarah B. Maine, 92, Oldest Resident, Expires.
    Mrs. Sarah Brown Maine, 92 years old, widow of George P. Maine whodied yesterday morning at her home here was the oldest resident of thisvillage, having held the honor since the death of Mrs. Q. Eldridge.
    Mrs. Maine was born in Ledyard, Feb. 27, 1847, the daughter of Averyand Annis Holdredge Brown and had spent all her life in Ledyard untilthree years ago when she moved to Old Mystic to a house owned by herson-in-law, Herbert B. Pierce. She was remarkably active for one of heryears. She did her own sewing and other needlework, and last year knittedsix pairs of mittens, as well as piecing a quilt. When she was 21 yearsold she was married to George P. Maine and there were 13 children born ofthis union.
    A brother, Erastus John Brown, with whom she lived, preceded her indeath a short time ago. Surviving are the following children: Erastus,Avery, Amos, Mrs. Chester Pierce and Mrs. Joseph Williams, all ofLedyard; Mrs. Herbert Pierce of Old Mystic, Allen Maine of Fitchville,and a brother, William, of Rockville.
    Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at theHarry O. Williams' funeral home in Mystic with interment in Peckhamcemetery in Ledyard.

    Mrs. George P. Main
    Sarah Eliza Brown, widow of George Park Maine, died at her home in OldMystic early Monday morning at the age of 92 years. She was born inLedyard, the daughter of Avery W. and Anna Holdredge Brown and spent mostof her life in Ledyard, having come to the village of Old Mystic a fewyears ago.
    She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Joseph Williams of Ledyard, Mrs.Herbert Pierce and Mrs. Chester Pierce of Old Mystic; four sons, ErastusMain, Avery Main, Amos Main and Allyn Main, all of Ledyard; a bortherWilliam Brown of Norwich and tow nephews, John Godfrey and Frank Godfreyof Mystic.
