_MENDDeath of one spouse
Guil & Bea were married in Losangeles then stopped at the Mission Inn in
Riverside, CA. They then left on their honeymoon, driving their 1923
ModelT Ford, to Torrey Pines, CA, where they spent the night camping. On
their way through San Bernardino they stopped at a roadside stand and
bought a gallonof green olives, which were completely consumed by the
time they got to thetop of El Cajon Pass. This love of olives was passed
down through all furthergenerations of Aikins. They then drove through
Flagstaff, AZ to Grand Canyon. They encountered steep grades which the
car could not negotiate because thegas tank, just forward of the
windshield, fed the engine via gravity feed. So, Guil turned the car
around and backed up the grades. This solved the gravity problem. During
their courtship, and even after their marriage, they tookweekend trips
to such faraway places as Carmel, CA, Cambria, Death Valley, Mount
Whitney, Old Baldy, Idlewilde, Palm Desert, (Palm Springs was yet to be
built), Tijuana & Escondido, Mexico. Considering the lack of decent
roads, and the unreliability of cars in the 20's, this was considered an
act of daring do!! | Family: F20135

St., in the village of Unadilla in the

Helen Southworth Wright of Milford....in the presence of Reka de Bloom
and
Harold Sweet as witness... [Harold was Stephen's brother. I do
not know who the Minister was, ie., what denomination (poss.
Methodist or Presbyterian) or if they married in a church or in the
Minister's 'parlor'(likely), as the certificate is not that
specific. I do not know who Reka de Bloomwas, but she must
have been one of Grandma's friends whom she brought asher
witness/bridesmaid. I wonder if she could be in any of those
photos from Grandma's girlhood, or if it would be possible to
track the de Bloom family down to see if they have any photos to
compare.I also wonder if Grandma's parents approved of her
marriage. - d. sweet] | Family: F36410

The family of George Schoonover was assembled from the 1870 and 1880 U.S. Census for Michigan. The Year of Birth (YOB) of George corresponds with the Schoonover Family Bible. The fact that he lived in Brady Township (TWP), Kalamazoo County, Michigan in the 1860's corresponds to the migration of the entire Joseph Schoonover family from Stillwater, Sussex County, New Jersey to Brady TWP in the same time period. In the 1870's George's family moved a little west to settle in Keeler, Van Buren County, Michigan where his last 2 children were born. His daughter Alice was married in Keeler, Van Buren County to Phillip J. Roath on May 9, 1888 which also corresponds with this theory.
First four children were born in Brady Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan. Last two children were born in Keeler, Van Buren County, Michigan.

Schoonover family tombstones located in Coloma Cemetery, Berrien County, Michigan. There are five stones which include a Master or Family Name Stone with two burial stones on each side. Gravesite is in excellent condition and decorated with artificial flowers. Photos of Headstones in Coloma Cemetery shows "G. Schoonover, 1824-1884". Roxie (Yerington) Schoonover headstone says "R. was Nellie Taylor who left Dwight and lived with another man ... so when
Dwightsays on the marriage certificate that he was a widower this is

Eunice R. Brainard and Daniel C. Foster applied for a marriage license on April 13, 1837 not April 15, 1837 as I have a photocopy of this application from Vol. 3, Pg. 283 #159 of the Cuyahoga County Marriage License Applications. It is easy to misread.
