LIFE: According to Charles N Sinnett's book, "Ancestor Samuel Hinckley and
Descendants," (his sources being the "History of Barnstable, Mass," aswell
as from Hinckley descedants) on p. 22 he states: Mary Hinckley (twin with
Samuel) b. 7 Feb 1711 is said to have died in March 1711. This iscertainly
an error as 'Mary Hinckley, the daughter of Deacon Samuel Hinckley married
Joseph Thompson, b. 23 Mar 1713/4 and died before 1759, and had six
children.' Data in the Thompson Genealogy by Rev. Chas. N. Sinnett. [Sowhy
couldn't she have died and they had ANOTHER girl they named Mary??] | Mary HINCKLEY, Twin

The Museum also owns two of the rare "hawk nest" half models, one in thehalf model room and one in the Herbert Crosby Shop. The hawk nest formwas used by boat builders for a brief period of time in the late 18th andearly 19th century. The Museum believes that the two on display probablycame from the Oliver Hinckley Yard, which was located at the end of BayStreet in Osterville at the same time these models were built.
