His pride and joy was his yard. He was always mowing, trimming,weeding, or something!! The property was beautiful because ofhis "doins." I can still see him pushing the double blademower (no power for him!) wearing only shorts and shoes, andmoving the sprinklers. And, I can still smell the sulphurwater!
He and Gramie moved to Wesley Manor, a retirement village,outside Jacksonville. He was "mayor" for some time. Heremained there, even after Gramie died in 1981.

She was a member of the First Assemblyof God Church of Sand Springs, and a member of the Pioneers Club of Southwestern Bell. She married Ike O Henry on August 30, 1961 at Berryville, AR. Dorris Maxine Hobaugh,born June 17, 1924, died Sunday, February 26, 1928 at 1 a.m., after an illnessof a week of pneumonia. Funeral Services were conducted at the Russell ChapelChurch by Rev. Thomasson Tuesday at two o'clock, with burial at the Odd FellowsCemetery on Route Four, east of Cantwell. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.John Hobaugh of Farmington Route 4. She leaves to mourn her passing away, herparents, one sister,Irma, age fifteen, and five brothers, John, Chesley, Stanley, Vernon, and Bobbie, all at home, and many other relatives and friends.
She bore her sufferings very patiently, and just before she passed away, waved her little hand and said 'bye-bye' to those of her loved ones near by. A large crowd attended the funeral services and many beautiful floral offerings were received. Services for John Henry Hobaugh, 102, a pioneer Sand Springs resident, were at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Bill Weaver officiating. Mr. Hobaugh died Tuesday in a Tulsa Hospital. He was born May 31, 1882, in Lamar, MO, and moved to Sand Springs in 1912 from Tulsa. A veteran railroad worker, Mr. Hobaugh also was a Hinderliter Tool Co. employee for 31 years. When he first moved to Sand Springs, he helped his father build the city's first hotel. He was a memberof First Assembly of God Church. Survivors include his daughter, Chloe Henry ofSand Springs; two sons, Clyde Hobaugh of Sand Springs and Claude Hobaugh of Sulphur, LA; four grandchildren and five g-grandchildren. Burial was in WoodlandCemetery with arrangements by Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service.

Mildred Beatrice "Bea" McDaniel, 72,of Joplin, died at 12:59 a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2001, at Freeman Hospital. She was born October 23, 1928 in Roubidoux, MO, to John and Eula Williams Hobaugh. She was an employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for over 35 years, retiring in 1982. She married Lester "Mac" McDaniel on April 16, 1949 inBentonville, Ark. He died December 9, 1991. She is survived by a son, James L McDaniel of Oklahoma; a daughter, Janet Dalton of Joplin; four grandchildren, Christopher McDaniel of Columbus, Kan., Angela McDaniel and Valerie McDaniel, both of Joplin, and April Dalton of Carterville; and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Larry Six will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00p.m. Friday at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary. Contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
