OBIT:
In Austin, Minnesota, Nov. 20th, at the residence of her brother, Ormanzo Allen, Esq., Mrs. Emily Dunn, wife of Edwin S. Dunn, Esq., of Freeborn, Minnesota, aged 31 years. The Mower County, (Austin, Minn.,) Mirror, of the 25th Nov., says: It is with pain that we are called upon to chronicle the sudden death, on the night of the 20th inst., of Mrs. Emily Dunn, wife of Edwin S. Dunn, Esq., the enterprizing proprietor of the town of Freeborn, Freeborn County, and sister of our esteemed fellow townsmen, Ormanzo and Orlenzer Allen, Esqs. Mrs. Dunn had been sometime complaining, and had reached Austin from Freeborn, Accompanied by her husband, en route for the home of her parents in Wisconsin, hoping by means of this trip to regain health and strength once more. But the hand of death was upon her, and as chronicled above, she expired on Sunday morning last. Her remains were conveyed on Monday to the home of her husband in Freeborn, there to receive the last rites of burial.
Mrs. Dunn was and estimable lady, an exemplary wife and mother, and the centre of an admiring circle of friends. There are many persons outside of the immediate connection of the deceased who held her in high esteem for her virtues, and who will mourn her untimely decease.

LOANDER ALLEN, a retired farmer, and one of the representativecitizens of Milton Junction, Wis., was born in Allegany County,N.Y., in the year 1825, and was the second in a family of sixchildren, whose parents were Abramand Dorcas (BURDICK) ALLEN.Of the children, four sons and two daughters, fourare yetliving. Jonathan, the eldest, lives in Alfred Center, N.Y., andis President of the university at that place; Loander, of thissketch, is the next of the family; Orlenzo and Ormanzo weretwins, and the latter is now a resident of Minnesota, but theformer, who was a doctor by profession, is deceased; Emily andEmeline were also twins, the former being now deceased, thelatter residing in Minnesota.
Our subject spent the days of his boyhood in his native State, his time being passed in much the same manner as that of otherfarmer lads, he attending the common schools during the wintermonths, and assisting in the labors ofthe farm during thesummer months. When seventeen years of age, his parents leftthe East and came to Rock County, arriving in the month of July,1842. Mr. ALLEN at once entered a claim of 160 acres on section28 and 29 in the town of Lima, and to his original purchaseafterwards added a tract of forty acres. He placed the wholeamount under a high state of cultivation, made manyimprovements, built barns and out-buildings for the care of hisstock, and otherwise increased the value of his property, untilit became one of the finest farms in the community. About 1852Abram ALLEN sold his farm in Lima, and bought a farm of 160acres, lying between the villages of Milton and Milton Junction, and known as the NORTON farm, but subsequently sold his land andremoved to Freeborn County, Minn.,where he engaged in millingfor some years, and in 1865 he sold out his mill business andreturned to Milton, and lived a retired life until his death, which occurred, about 1875.
Our subject completed his education in Milton Academy, and thenturned his attention to farming, which he has made his lifework. He purchased his farm of a Mr. BALDWIN, it comprising 118acres of fine, arable land inthe town of Lima, and to itscultivation and improvement devoted the greater part of his timeand attention, until, wishing to retire to private life, heremoved to Milton Junction, in 1880.
In 1847 Mr. ALLEN was united in marriage withMiss AlmiraBABCOCK, and unto them were born three children - Madelia, theeldest, became the wife of Elias AYERS, a resident of St.Andrew's Bay, Fla.; Asher D., who married Miss Viola BROWN, hasthe management of his father's farm in Lima; Dora L., wife ofWilliam BIRMINGHAM, makes her home in Gratiot County, Mich.In1865 Mr. ALLEN was called upon to mourn the death of his wife.He was again married, his second union being with AmandaHUFFMAN, of Milton. The promptness and fidelity with which hehas discharged the various duties incumbent upon him, has madehim an efficient and faithful officer, and he is recognized asone of the prominent and enterprising citizens of MiltonJunction. For about twenty-three years he has actedas deaconof the Seventh Day Baptist Church, in which he holds membership, and isan untiring worker in his Master's vineyard.
