Upon the death of Benjamin Babcock (1857) the land was apportionedamong his children. The latter, consisting of 306 acres, was left to theother children who had remained at the home. So the homestead farm wasleft to John Bannister Gibson Babcock (1st), Valeria Ann Babcock, andAndrew Jackson Babcock. The Babcock family burying ground is the onlyportion of the original estate in which the title still remains in theBabcock family as a whole. The old estate and burying ground are locatedabout 10 miles south of Owego, New York, and about 1.5 miles north ofWindham, Pennsylvania. | John Bannister Gibson BABCOCK

Mortimer moved to California around 1851-1852.

Col. Nathan Babcock represented Westerly in the Rhode Island GeneralAssembly 1760-1. He was appointed by the General Assembly in May 1761,Colonel of Kings County Regtment of Militia. (C.R. of RI, Vol. VI). Hewas Justice of the Peace in 1755.
The town of Westerly, Feb. 12, 1776, voted that 'the two fieldpieces ordered by the General Assembly to be deposited in this town bestationed near the sea on the land of Nathan Babcock, 2d Esq., and to beused on any sudden invasion as needed required."
June 3, 1777, Nathan Babcock was appointed one of a committeed ofthree to secure materials for an "Amunition Cart."
It is noticed that Oliver Babcock, youngest son of John and Mary(Lawton) Babcock had a son Nathan, b. Oct 12, 1715. It is possible thatsome of the records given apply to him.

Militia in the later year. Hem. (1), 19 May 1748, Deborah Stafford; (2), 20 May, 1764, ElizabethBrown; (3), 26 Aug. 1779, Nancy Lewis; (4), 6 Feby, 1782, Dorcas Babcock.He had issue by each marriage, sixteen ch. in all, and died at Westerly,24 Jany, 1804.
