Subject: family tree on Shaner-Barbee
Date: Thu, 30 Oct 2003 09:11:18 -0600
Dear Denny,
My name is Ruth Hall. I have just started looking at my family tree even though I tried to get information from my grandmother 20 years ago. I was so excited when I found all of this information that I have been trying to get from her. She is Doris Ruth Shaner. Her father is James Franklin Shaner and her mother is Ivy Delle Barbee. I am trying to get more information on Ivy Delle but I can't seem to find her parents. Hopefully you will be able to help!
Thanks!
(note- did quick census search and emailed Ruth 1880, 1900, 1910 census for Ivy with her mother and grandparents) | Ivy Delle BARBEE

According to the 1870 census for Conneaut, Pennsylvania, Amelia Barber was bornin New York. Most of her ancestors originated from Massachusetts or Connecticut and were of English descent. Her 5th great grandfather was Thomas Hooker, who was a notable minister of Connecticut. From Hooker's sermons sprange the constitution of Connecticut, the first of the written American constitutions framed by the people for the people. It is also believed that Amelia Barber was adescendant of Thomas Rogers of the Mayflower. The Barber, Drake, Seager, and other families lived in the same communities and intermarried several times. Amelia and Silas were second cousins. They were both descendants of Thomas Barber, who was the first Barber in New England.
Amelia moved to Crawford Co., Pennsylvania sometime before 1832 where she married Silias Hill Seager and they had three children, Charles Edward, Orin Barber, and Prince Albert. | Amelia Amanda BARBER
