4570 ELKHART -- Barbara A. Kindig, 62, of 1701 Prairie St., died at 7:34 P.M. Tuesday (Feb. 24, 2004) at Elkhart General Hospital after an illness.

She was born Dec. 29, 1941, in Elkhart to Raymond and Phyllis Barhydt, now both deceased. She married Thomas H. Kindig on April 3, 1979, in Elkhart. He survives with two sons, Robert R. Kindig of Elkhart and Mark (Sherry) Aryea of Mishawaka; four grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Don (Phyllis) McHugh of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Barhydt.

There will be no visitation before the 11 A.M. Tuesday memorial service at Central Christian Church, officiated by the Rev. Bill Riggs of the church. Cremation has taken place, and Westbrook-Metz and Clouse Funeral Home handled arrangements. Mrs. Kindig, a homemaker, graduated from Concord High School. Memorials may be given to American Lung Association

ELKHART, Ind. — Barbara A. Kindig, 62, 1701 Prairie St., died at 7:34 p.m. Tuesday at Elkhart General Hospital following an illness.
She was born Dec. 29, 1941, in Elkhart to Raymond and Phyllis Barhydt.
On April 3, 1979, she married Thomas H. Kindig in Elkhart.
She was a graduate of Concord High School, and a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Robert R. Kindig, Elkhart, and Mark (Sherry) Aryea, Mishawaka; four grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis (Don) McHugh, Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Barhydt.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Central Christian Church with the Rev. Bill Riggs officiating.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Lung Association.
Westbrook-Metz & Clouse Funeral Home, Elkhart, is in charge of arrangements.

ELKHART - Friends of Raymond H Barhydt, 57, of 57981 C.R. 13 S., may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be at 2pm Friday. The Rev. James Murphy of Christian Center in South Bend will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery. Mr Barhydt died at 9pm Monday (Oct 30, 1995) at home after an extended illness. He was born June 30 1938, in Elkhart, and married Ruth A Oberlin on May 3 1959, in Elkhart. She survives with one son, Edward R Barhydt of Elkhart; three daughters, Robin Welker of Seymour, and Rhonda Gerald and Brenda Barhydt, both of Elkhart; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs Thomas H (Barbara) Kindig and Mrs Don (Phyllis) McHugh, both of Elkhart. Mr Barhydt had worked for 22 years at Bock Products, where he was a welder, and then for four years at Voyager Inc. in Elkhart. He was a member of the Christian Center in South Bend and a veteran of the US Army. Memorials may be given to the United Cancer Services of Elkhart County or the Elkhart Community Hospice Inc.

4573 BIOGRAPHY: He left Westfield in the winter of 1803-4 on foot and journeyed across country to Albany, Schenectady, New York, through the Mohawk Valley, East Creek, Barto Hill, Middleville, Newport and up the sand hill from Graves Hollow to Russia. Five times he made the journey on foot taking odd jobs along the way.After his marriage he made his home in Russia. He and his wife were members ofthe Russia Baptist Church for 67 years. He served at the defense of Sacketts Harbor in 1813 in the War of 1812. Most of his time in service was spent in hospital after contracting typhoid fever. James BARKER

BARKER, Joseph, a Representative from Massachusetts; born in Branford, Conn., October 19, 1751; attended the common schools in Branford, Harvard College for two years, and was graduated from Yale College in 1771; studied theology; licensed to preach January 3, 1775; ordained to the ministry December 5, 1781, and was installed as pastor of the First Congregational Church of Middleboro, Plymouth County, Mass.; elected as a Republican to the Ninth and Tenth Congresses (March 4, 1805-March 3, 1809); wasnot a candidate for renomination in 1808; member of the State house of representatives in 1812 and 1813; continued in the ministry at Middleboro, Mass., untilhis death, July 5, 1815; interment in Green Cemetery.
