The following excerpt taken from "History of the Fish Family" by Cynthia Fish Hunt:
"Cynthia Barrows was the oldest child of Lemuel and Abigail Grant Barrows and was born November 10, 1785 in Thompson, Windam County, Conn. where she lived until about five years of age when the family removed to the state of Vermont settling in the town of Bridport, until the subject of this sketch was 17 years old. Her father then removed with his family into the state of New York, making the journey in Mid-winter and crossing some portion of Lake Champlain on the ice. He settled in Onondaga Co. town of Marcellus where he located a tract of 600 acres of land granted him by government for services in the Revolutionary War, by virture of which his descendents are eligible to become Sons and Daughters of the Revolution.
Col. Barrows settled on his farm and remained there until his death which occurred in the summer of 1843. Miss Cynthia was engaged in teaching school in the summer of 1806. A log house had been built with an open fireplace on one side. Stoves were an unknown luxury in that early day. when engaged with her little group one bright morning in June it suddenly began to grow dark and cold. A fire was kindled for both warmth and light. She then explained to the children the cause of the darkness. There was a total eclipse of the sun which lasted over three minutes...." | Cynthia BARROWS

NATURALIZATION:
Barski Theofil
Address: Cor. Jennings & Denison
Petition No. 13440 Court of Common Please, Cuyahoga County, Cleveland Ohio
Born: Russia (Poland) May 27, 1867
Date and Port: May 20, 1889
Naturalized: Oct. 30, 1897
Witnesses:
Notes: Soundex: B620
Voter Registration of 1907:
BARSKI, Teofil - Jennings & Denison
10/19/07 reg. no. 391 ward 6 prec. D
RESIDENCES:
1900 - 3 Belt Line Rd., Cleveland, Ohio (short street off of Jennings just north of Denison)
1910 - 3762 Jennings Ave., Cleveland, Ohio
1945 - 4850 Edgepark Dr., Garfield Hts, Cuyahoga, Ohio
OCCUPATION:
Saloon proprietor. Ran a saloon called Barski's Hall at the corner of Jennings and Denison Ave.
Nellie and Peter Barski may have been relatives. Property exchanged hands between the two parties in 1924. Not Teophil's son. Could be a nephew. Also, in the 1910 Census and living just up the hill from Teophil at 3763 W13th St. are Frank Barski (age 36 and married but no wife listed in the census) and Victor Barski (age 16). One has to assume there is some relationship between all these Barski's.
Teofil owned most of the land on the west side of Jennings Ave. from the western edge of the Harvard-Dension bridge supports, past the intersection with Denison on to just north of Redman. In total, he owned 24 lots.
Teofil is listed as the brother-in-law of Frank Stachura on the latter's ship manifest entry. This doesn't seem possible as Frank's wife's maiden name was RAS, and Teofil's was KROLL. The only scenarios that could fit this entry are if Frank had been married to a KROLL at the time he came to the U.S.A., or if Catherine Kroll had been married before she married Teofil and her real maiden name is RAS. | Teofil O. BARSKI

The Ellis Island website has an entry for a Kanstancya Krukurka, age 24, arriving Aug 28, 1912 whose husband is listed as Frank of 3704 W13th in Cleveland. Her father's name is listed as Ignac Barsky (or Barskij) and from _____, Plock, Poland. She must have taken a trip back to Poland because she answered YES to whether she had ever been in the U.S. before.
There was a Teofil Barski operating a saloon on Jennings Ave. Is he her uncle? Also, Piotr (Peter) Barski entered the U.S. in 1912 and lists his destination as his friend, Francis Kukurko (sic) at 3704 W14th in Cleveland. What relation is he to Konstancya?
KONSTANCYA KRUKURKA is also mentioned in a deed from her and Frank to Sarah Ray in 1912 for property on W15th Street.
Is this the same woman? It represents a marriage that took place between 1906-1909.
