man servedin the War of 1812 as a private in the Ohio Militia, fro
m October 20, 1812 toJan. 11, 1813, in Captain James Flagg’s Compan
y and from September 10, 1813,to March 14, 1814, in Captain John Tho
rnsby’s company. He was allowed bountyland in full satisfaction fo
r services rendered in the War of 1812. Recordsfrom the Bureau of Wa
shington, D.C., (Line established for eligibility to U.S. D. 1812).

o Deborah Spearson August 11, 1853. Deborah Spears was born Jan. 19 1
833, and died Nov. 2, 1859. Sheis buried in Bethel Cemetery, Okaw To
wnship, six miles Northeast of Shelbyville, IL. In 1856, Mr. Chapma
n moved by covered wagon, from Marietta, Ohio, to a farm about 1 mil
e north of Shelbyville, IL.
