8593 ~I told my sister Diane she needs to email you....she keeps emailing stories that she remembers from the area and they are just so interesting...she told me yesterday that she was on the website and looking at the one picture where it shows "Kilroys House" was directly across from the church, it was a nice big house and she remembers the Cielec boy got killed right in front of that house. he got hit by a car when he went out in the street-he was only 4 years old-they lived on Redman and had him layed out at home-they lived about 4 houses away. She said she remembers it like it was yesterday-it was summer time and hot and they had a white mosquito netting draped over the coffin. We talked about how things were done years ago and how if our child were killed like that we could never have him layed out in our house-how emotional that must have been for the family. -- Cheryl Bartkiewicz

8598 Peter Cielec bought some property on Storer Ave around 1919. He must have died in the following year because in 1921 the executor of his estate is Russell Jacuby and he is transferring the property to Zofia Jacuby, who is the heir and probably Peter's wife who has by then remarried. May be the same fellow I have listed as Phillip since Phillip was listed in the 1920 census living on Redman. Also, Phillip is not a name that a Polish family would have used in that time period. Then again, his name could be Felix.

~Ok, things are not making much sense. I looked a little closer at the property record and it states that Peter died 28 Sep 1921. The date of the deed is 02 Dec 1921. It hardly seems reasonable to think that his widow remarried within only 2 months. If it weren't for the 1925 deed where she goes back to using the name Cielec, I'd think there was no connection at all. So using logic here, it seems that if a woman was going to give up her married name, due possibly to a divorce, she'd return to her maiden name and not a previous married name. So that would suggest that Zofia was more likely Peter's sister.

Possible Death record: CAHLEK, Peter Death date: 1/22/1921, Cuyahoga County Volume #3478, Certificate #1605
Peter CIELEC

8599 At least one living individual is linked to this note - Details withheld. Phyllis (Theophila) V. CIELEC

8600 RESIDENCES:
1910 - 1210 Redman Ave. (as listed on his sister, Zofia's ship manifest entry)
1917 - 3744 Jennings Ave
1926 - 3701 W.13th St., Cleveland, Ohio
1937 - 3708 W.15th St.

Property deed for a parcel near W67th Street lists Peter Cielec as deceased on 28 Sep 1921. Administrator of his estate is Russell Jacuby. The property was transferred to Zofia Jacuby.
From the Cuyahoga County Marriage Index :
CIELEC, SOPHIE and JACUBY, RUSSELL 0118 0132 52
CIELEC, SOPHIE and JACUBY, RUSSELL 0123 0063

Is Sophie Cielec, Peter's wife who then marries Russell Jacuby, or is it his niece, daughter of Josef Cielec?

WWI Draft registration lists Peter as having FIVE children. He was living at 3744 Jennings Ave at the time. Age 30 at the time (1918?). No actual date of birth recorded. Worked at Barkwill Fire Brick Co. on Valley Rd. (Note: 1920 census lists Sophie CIGLAC or CHIGLAC living at 3746 Jennings Ave with five children, but no Peter. If he died in 1921, where is he?)
Piotr (Peter) CIELEC
