  A. Lived in Wayne Co., (at present town of Congress) OH, for a while but then Georgetown, PA. See account by Adam Poe, Sr. - Adam Poe, Sr. reported family of 5 boys and 5 girls (2 of each surviving). 6 children not identified (1 boy,5 girls). Made river boat trips by canoe and flatboat. Reportedly acquired considerable property but later had heavy losses. Research done by Don Milligen, Kent, Washington, provided the names of Elizbeth's husband and children. She was described from his records as a daughter of Jacob and Dorthea Hephner. B. Elizabeth Hephner, wife of Thomas Washington Poe, identical to Jacob Hephner's daughter. The Justice of the Peace was C. M. Aten. CE 1860 PA 40 1863 The Captain and the clerk of the mailboat that transported Isaac Poe's body from Helena, AR, to Cairo, IL, were married to two of Isaac's cousins, daughters of Thomas Poe of Georgetown, PA. 21-1 1887 Daisy Poe Pratt claimed That Thomas Poe had 9 children. elizabeth Hephner's father lived in Wayne Co., OH. 40 1887 Adam called his father "Thomas Poe, Sr." Adam had 2 older brothers. He stated that there were only 2 boys and 3 girls still living. (Andrew died 20 Jan 1887 & George died about 1884) (Sarah died 13 Mar 1870 but who else died before 1887?) 43-1 1927 Daisy (Poe) Pratt was given these names of Thomas' children by a J. Poe: Adam, Andrew, George, Jacob,(missed Thomas), Nancy, Catharine, Martha, Sarah & Elizabeth. Information: Thomas and Elizabeth lived 4 miles north of Congress, OH. They later moved to PA. Hugh Miller spelled "Hefner" this way - "Hephner." The sons of Thomas Poe, Sr., of Georgetown, Beaver Co., PA, are said to own vessels plying the Ohio River and are quite wealthy. 88 Kenneth included Catharine in his list of Thomas' children but excluded Thomas, Jr.
