Notes |
- BIOGRAPHY: Nathaniel Foote served as a private soldier in the Revolutionary War. He was at the battle of White Plains, and he was afterwards at New London "inthe Service" when the town was attacked. He was also a Minute Man.
He was drafted at two different times, and scores of people remember seeing Nathaniel Foote's old Revolutionary musket which hung over the mantel and was looked upon asa very rare relic. His papers of discharge from the service were sent to Washington, D.C., and were never returned, and were supposed to have been burned inthe Government Building when the British troops were in occupation in 1814. Because of this he received no pension.
