      99 1865 27 Apr William was a soldier in the Union army [Co. F, 102nd Ohio Regt].
      He was killed by an explosion on the steamer, Sultana, when the ship blew up while returning expatriated Union P. O. W.s to the North. This was near Memphis, TN on the Mississippi River.
      Also killed was Majo;r James W. Carlin.
