      B. 42-11 1853 15 Mar W. A. Poe has Joseph marry Lucy on this date.
      40 1853 07 Mar D. W. Poe to Isaac Poe - Isaac Kerns has boughten Joseph Poe's assets.
      1855 D. W. Poe to Isaac Poe - Joseph's wife, Lucy, died Sunday of typhoid fever. His little boy is hale and hearty.
      1856 04 Nov Joseph moved to Minnesota.
      40 1856 Joseph Poe wrote home from Minnesota about an article he read in the Galena, IL, newspaper about the deaths of David Williamson Poe and David Jackson Poe. They were caught in a blizzard while searching for a homestead near Nebraska City, Otoe Co., NE. Their arms and legs were frozen and they died when these were amputated. Adam Poe, who was in Nebraska City at the time, also wrote home about their deaths.

      He cannot live as a lawyer so has taken another job. His son's leg is bad and will probably never be well.
      1861 11 Mar Carrie and Elizabeth Poe to Isaace - Joseph told Carrie she should never have borrowed money. (Evidently Joseph & Elizabeth & Catharine were in Brooklyn on this date.)

      1863 03 Mar Carrie Poe to Polly Poe - Joseph is getting a discharge for Isaac. The govenor gave him a pass and he is probably on the Mississippi now. Isaac was left with $1 whenMary Ann left camp.
      1863 21 Jun A Sunday. Carrie Poe to Polly Poe - Martha has a son born on the 1st of April. (This would be Arthur Conant Poe.) Joseph has spent a lot of money on Charlie's knee.
      1864 25 Jan Joseph has gone into the army. He is in a quartermaster department at Baltimore. Carrie is living in Brooklyn.
      44-4 1902 15 Jan Eighty year old Joseph M. Poe, 4107 Denisen Ave., is the man who started the custom of providing hotel rooms with ropes from which guests are supposed to dangle and to slide down if the hotel catches fire.
      1909 10 Mar Nettie Keyser to Dear Cousin - Carrie (Mrs. Joseph M. Poe) was deaf and blind the last years of her life
      OBIT 1912 Joseph Miles Poe, a member of the Ohio House and Senate for three terms, died 10 April 1912 at the home of a grandson, Joseph R. Poe, 1458 Lakewood Ave., age 82.
      Joseph had sold some of his land to the City of Cleveland. It became the Cleveland Zoo, part of Brookside Park.
