Wilbur Clifford Ealy at the age of 20 went to Indianapolis, Indiana and
learned the trade of a sawsmith. In 1906 he secured a position in a saw
company in Columbus, OH where he met Bessie Belle Shaner. Two years later, in
1908 he secured work in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Bessie Belle Shaner
followed her love up to Canada and they were married on February 20, 1909.
Eleven months later on Jan 24, 1910, their union was blessed with a baby boy.
The named him James Clifford Ealy. Within the next few years Wilbur moved
back to Indianapolis, IN and Bessie being pregant with the second child went
to her Father's home in Columbus, Ohio and remained until July. At that time
she and her sister Laura May Shaner, with baby James went to Indianapolis,
Indiana. On August 2, 1912 another baby boy was born. He was named Arthur
Raymond Ealy.
In 1917 the family moved back to Columbus, Ohio. Again they moved in 1929, to
Philadelphia, PA. James Clifford Ealy was married to Mary Charlotte Hays in
Columbus in 1929 before the left in 1932. During the depression the family
retuned to Columbus, Ohio to live with James H.. Shaner. In the fall of 1932
Wilbur found work in St. Louis, Missouri and on February 28, 1933 Bessie and
Arthur joined him. Bessie and Wilbur Ealy lived in various locations in the
St. Louis area during the rest of their lifetimes.
Clifford and Mary remained in the Ohio area, upon the return from Philadelphia.
