Lisa, any more clues? I have a john wirks b abt 1814 in my database (married to Linda Shaner) but no children, nothing further. are you thinking John is the father of your Edward Wirks?
i did a quick check of rootsweb and didn't find anything, but the 1880 census had the following which seemed to be your Edward Jr as a grandchild with Harriet's parents (edward's g-parents):
1880 census Steuben, Crawford, Pennsylvania , p 178A:
Edward LEWIS Self M Male W 71 MA Works On Farm MA MA
Harriet LEWIS Wife M Female W 64 NY Keeping House NY NY
Edward J. WIRKS GSon S Male W 8 PA PA NY
1870 census Steuben, Crawford, Pennsylvania, p 565:
Edward Lewis, 61, m, farmer, bir-Massachusetts
Harriett, 55, f, bir-New York
Minerva, 8, f, bir-Pennsylvania (note: prob meant 18)
no "Wirks" in Pennsylvania 1870 Census.
1860 census Athens Twp, Crawford Co., Pennsylvania, p 1:
Edward Lewis, m, 51, farmer, bir-MA
Harriet, f, 44, bir-NY
Solomon, m, 16, bir-NY
Minerva, f, 10, bir-NY
no "Wirks" in Pennsylvania 1860 census.
i can't connect my database to your Harriet Lewis, Edward Wirks or Mr. Prescott.
any other ideas?

Hello
I found your tree and hope we might be able to connect our families. I have Harriet Lewis (b. est 1840 in England) married to Edward Wirks (from MD and in the 1850 Allegheny Co Census). They had 2 children, Hattie & Edward
(b. 1871 in Tyronsville, PA). After Edward Sr. died, Harriet married a Prescott who ran a glass factory in Beaver Falls. Ed Jr. married Mary Jane Garner in 1893 and they went to East Palestine, OH.
Your file is huge and I know these are minor names for you, but I was hoping you might give me some insights into this very confusing bunch. I'd appreciate anything...
Thanks, and have a great day
Lisa
