      Jedediah Brown, son of John and Elizabeth (Miner) Brown, wasborn Apr. 28,1709 and died Jan. 15, 1732.
      Jedediah married Nov. 27, 1728, Abigail Holmes, born Feb. 28,1703, anddied June 6, 1732. She was the daughter of JoshuaHolmes, born Aug. 20,1678, who lived with his father's familyin Westerly, RI. During his youthand young manhood, and beforehe reached his majority, he becameacquainted with Miss FearSturgess, of Yarmouth, Mass., whose house heoften visited withincreasing pleasure, until they were married, Nov. 21,1698.Miss Sturgess was the daughter of Edward Sturgess, who came tothiscountry from England to Charlestown, Mass., in 1634, andsettled inYarmouth. Mr. Holmes bought large tracts of land inStonington, Conn., nowNo. Stonington, near Wyassup Pond, uponwhich he built a dwelling house,which he occupied during hislife. He had nine children. Thomas Holmes,their son, ismentioned with Daniel Brown as giving the land for theFirstBaptist Church, now No. Stonington.
