- MRS. M. A. PATTERSONAlice Louise Covington Patterson, daughter of the late Josiah and Hulda Frazier Covington, was born in Ste. Genevieve County, Mo., on March 7, 1871, and passed away at her home in Farmington [St. Francois County], Mo., on April 5, 1950, at 1:00 a.m., following a short illness.At an early age she professed faith in Christ and at the time of her death was a member of the Aulsbury Chapel Church. She was a faithful Christian until her death.On December 31, 1888, she was united in marriage to McAnally Andrews Patterson, who survives. To this union, fifteen children were born, all of whom survive. They are: Marvin Patterson, Stella (Mrs. Luther) Elders, Alice (Mrs. John) Waller, Maggie (Mrs. John) Saffel [Saffell], and Myrtle (Mrs. Lawrence) Cunningham of Route 1, Bonne Terre; Bertha (Mrs. Arthur) Sigman, and Mrs. Hazel Straughn of St. Louis; Carl Patterson, Johnny Patterson and Effie (Mrs. Elmer) Rosener of Elvins; Gladys (Mrs. Everett) Heck and Woodrow Patterson of Crystal City; Virginia (Mrs. Carl) Horn and Olive (Mrs. Earl) Smith of Lemay and Iva (Mrs. Martin) Powell of Farmington.She had fifty-one grandchildren, forty-nine surviving. Two preceded her in death in infancy and Elizabeth Waller Byington having passed away July 31, 1949. She is survived by 36 great-grandchildren.Grandma Patterson was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; a true friend and neighbor. She was loved by all who knew her.Funeral Services are to be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Aulsbury Chapel Church.
