  Tom, sorry, I'm not much help with the ancestory of Joseph and Jesse. I have Joseph on the 1880 census which lists his place of birth as Ohio and his father (Jesse) as New York, but i go no further back. The Matteson (Madisons) are a married line for me so i don't trace them back. good luck on your huntings.
