      Simeon Chapman, son of Jonathan Chapman, was born in Hadam, Conn.,Au
      gust 27, 1783. He moved with his father to Marietta, Ohio, October 13
      , 1811. He married Phebe Jane Beardsley, April 11, 1822. Simeon Chap
      man servedin the War of 1812 as a private in the Ohio Militia, fro
      m October 20, 1812 toJan. 11, 1813, in Captain James Flagg’s Compan
      y and from September 10, 1813,to March 14, 1814, in Captain John Tho
      rnsby’s company. He was allowed bountyland in full satisfaction fo
      r services rendered in the War of 1812. Recordsfrom the Bureau of Wa
      shington, D.C., (Line established for eligibility to U.S. D. 1812).
