He was a very bright man-dentist and inventor (it was said thatthe college deans went to him to solve difficult problems). Asto the inventions, he had 33 patents granted to him. He inventedthe first bicycle; the cup that is used today in the dentist'soffice; and the first woven fence. He never made much out ofthem as others got them away from him.
