      Burdick - Mattie Mendenhall, daughter of Ellis Abner andArtimesia Babcock Mendenhall, was born December 9, 1873, inMilton, Wis., and died at Riverside, Calif., April 3, 1961.
      Her early years were spent in Watertown, Wis., where she wasgraduated from high school. She later attended Milton Academygraduating with a degree to teach school. She was married toHarold Martin Burdick in 1809, who died April 16, 1960.
      She was an early member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church inMilton Junction, Wis. She was also devoted to communityfunctions, and dedicated considerable time to the cause oftemperance as an active member of the W. C. T. U. for manyyears. The Burdicks established residence in California in1937, where they were faithful participants inthe activities ofthe Riverside church as long as their health permitted.
      Sheis survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lura Sayre of Riversideand Mrs. Elmer (Dorothy) Bingham of San Diego, Calif.; by ninegrandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
      Funeral services were conducted on April 6 in the RiversideSeventhDay Baptist Church, by pastor Alton L. Wheeler, withinterment in the OlivewoodCemetery, in Riverside, Calif.
