- IMMIGRATION:
Arrived 1873 (per 1930 census)
Left Bohemia at age 25, journeyed through Germany to Bremen, and crossed the ocean on the steamship AMERICA. After a voyage of sixteen days landed in New York City. From NYC they went directly to Chicago, and arrived in that city May 16, 1873 less than 2 years after the great fire. Found employment with Mr. Fort as a laborer.
MARRIAGE:
ROZHON, JOSEPH & KRAL, BARBARA in Cook County on 01/25/1874 vol.086, License #00014627
Moved to Starke County, Indiana in 1888. Bought 120 acres in section 25 of Railroad Township. Built a frame house, cleared timber, drained a swamp, and created a farm. Bought another 80 acres to bring the total to 200 acres. Grew corn, oats, wheat and potatoes. Kept 7 horses, a herd of 25-30 cattle, large number of hogs. Farm buildings all painted red. Barn is 22x60 surrounded with granaries, corn cribs, and other outbuildings. [Source: HISTORY OF STARKE COUNTY, p 696-698]

1920 - Railroad Township, Starke Cty, Indiana, ED 279 lists Joseph as a widower and his sons: Louis, Henry and Albert.
1930 - Railroad Township, Starke Cty, Indiana, ED 75-10, Sheet 5B, lists Joseph now living with his son Louis and Louis' wife Blanche along with Albert. Henry has married Helen and living elsewhere.

Marriage may be Celebrated between Mr. Joseph Rozhon and Miss Barbara Kral of Cook County, and this shall be your good and sufficient warrant; and you are required to return this license to me with Thirty Days from the celebration of such Marriage, with a certificate of the same endorsed hereon and signed by you under Statute Penalty of "One Hundred Dollars".
