  • Notes
    • HEALTH:
Always had stomach problems and died one year after the arrival of his daughter, Mary, to the U.S. (per Julia Sheley).

      IMMIGRATION:
No one has ever mentioned that Jozef came to the United States but a manifest was found listing someone with this same name and of a similar age coming from Niwiska (small village near Dobrynin). This individual arrived in the U.S. in 13 Mar 1903 on the S.S. Barbarosa sailing from Bremen. Listed as married, age 43. Destination was his cousin Jozef (unreadable but possibly something like PEKLAK or PEKAR) in Cleveland, Ohio.

In 1999, 49 Polish provinces were reduced to 16 and given new names. Rzeszów is now Podkarpackie. The town of Mielec was located between Debice and Sandomierz, on the River Wisloka. Its population was about evenly divided between Jews and Poles.

      VARIATIONS:
      Jemiolo, Jemiola, Jmiola, Ymiola
