  Name Prefix: Sgt. Elijah Barber was born and raised in Connecticut. Atthe age of 20 he married Rachel Hill of Simsbury, Connecticut and they had ninechildren. Sometime before 1809, the family moved acrossed the boarder in to New York State and eventually to Pennline, Crawford, Pennsylvania, where the family settled on land granted to his father after the Revolutionary War. Pennlineis situated in the western part of the township and distance is about half a mile from the Ohio line. It is surrounded by a tolerably good farming and dairycountry.
