      Israel Brainerd, son of Josiah and Hannah Spencer Brainerd was married to Deborah Willey Hoyt, a widow, in 1772, and was the father of

      BIOGRAPHY: He served in the American Revolution, first as a Private under the command of Lt. Col. David Webster, and second, as a corporal under the command of Capt. John Willoughby in Col. Chase's Regiment, New Hampshire troops. Israel settled in Danville, Caledonia, VT in 1785, was elected one of three Selectmen in the first organizational meeting of Danville, VT, and also became Deacon of the Congregational Church in Danville, VT, as he was for about 15 years in Campton, Grafton County, NH. to Campton, Grafton County, NH in 1768-1769
