They went to live on the Geer farm in North Stonington.
Perry helped with his father-in-law's charcoal business and also wasa relatively prosperous farmer. The Geer/Congdon farm is no longerstanding -- it burned down in a forest fire in 1922.
In the 1850 U.S. Federal Census, Henry Frank Geer, the 14-year oldbrother of Lydia Geer, was living with Perry Congdon and his family inNorth Stonington.
He died at the home of his daughter, Mary E. (Congdon) Palmer, inVoluntown, CT on 25 Mar 1910, At 91 yrs, 1 mo, 18 days. The cause ofdeath listed on the death certificate was "general paralysis of thebraian", an illness he had suffered for three years. (In modern medicallanguage, this would have been described today as some sort of a stroke.)
His wife predeceased him 16 Dec 1877, age 59, dying from cancer.
