      Born in Stonington, Conn., 8 Aug 1774 (VR), son of Henry Hewitt andPhebe Prentice, and twin to Joseph; died in North Stonington, Conn., 1Jul 1867, age 92 years (tombstone). Benjamin married DESIRE BABCOCK, 21Oct 1798, at Stonington (Wheeler). Desire was born in Conn., 30 Mar 1780(tombstone), parents unknown; she died in North Stonington, 12 Jan 1875,age 94 years, 9 months and 12 days (tombstone). Both she and Benjaminwere buried in the Wheeler Cemetery at North Stonington.
      Benjamin was a farmer. He and Desire resided in North Stoningtonwhere they raised their family and lived their remarkable long lives.Benjamin left a will dated 31 Mar 1867, and probated in 1867 (NorthStonington Probate Records, Vol. 2, pp. 197-203). He provided for hiswife Desire during her lifetime by giving her the use of u the dwellinghouse, all furniture and movables. $80 yearly plus foodstuffs. The 5living daughters - Sally, Desire, Phebe, Louisa and Frances - were eachgiven $125. Son Benjamin was to have $750, and Joseph was to have allreal estate, cattle and farm tools. Joseph was named executor of theestate.

      Benjamin Hewitt of North Stonington to Prentis Hewitt inconsideration of Prentice Hewitt executing jointly with me a warrantydeed to Isaac Williams 2nd. of the Elkannah Hewitt and Hanks land bearingdate March 11, 1822 quit-claiming land and buildings which was willed tome by my father Henry Hewitt, dec'd in Stonington (excepting andreserving to myself and heirs the one half of my mother Content Hewittsthirds set off to her by the distributors which half is to fall to me ather decease.

      Prentice Hewitt of North Stonington to Benjamin Hewitt, quit-claim1/2 of the widow Content Hewitt's their of the real estate of HenryHewitt, for #24, two tracts in North Stonington:
      No. 1 -- Beginning at the head of the lane, so-called, thencerunning northerly to a bar post about 10 rods, thence northerly by an oldfence to the corner of Foster land, thence easterly by an old well toIsaac William's land, thence southerly by a fence to Prentice Hewitt'sland, thence westerly by a wall about 30 rods, thence southerly by saidwall to Prentice Hewitt's land thence westerly to first mentioned boundcontaining by estimation 25 acres, more or less.
      No. 2 -- Beginning at the south west corner of the premices it beingthe northwest corner of Prentice Hewitt's wood lot, thence northerly byand with the lands of Isaac Williams to the lands of William Eccleston,thence easterly by said Eccleston's land to a black oak tree near a gate,thence southerly by lands of William rodman to a white oak tree, thencewesterly by an old fence with lands of Prentice Hewitt to the firstmentioned bound, containing about 11 acres, more or less, called theSilas Hewitt wood lot.

      Benjamin Hewitt of North Stonington quit-claim 1/2 of Widow'sContent Hewitt's thirds in real estate of Henry Hewitt in a certain pieceof land with one half a dwelling house thereon standing in NorthStonington. Beginning at the south west corner of the premises at a barpost. Thence northerly till you come to a cider mill lot so-called.Thence westerly by an old wall to said Prentice Hewitt's land, thencenortherly by said Prentice Hewitt's land with an old wall to the northwest corner of the premises; thence easterly to the head of the laneso-called; thence easterly by an old wall to said Prentice Hewitt's land;thence southerly to lands of the Heirs of Jonas Hewitt; thence westerlyby said heirs land to the first mentioned bound. Containing by estimation10 acres more or less.
