Hosmer A. Brown (389) went with his brother Andrew to what is nowknown as Brownsdale in 1855, and preempted a large tract of land, usingin the payment a Land Warrant which was granted his father (385) forservices at Stonington, Conn., in the War of 1812. When they came to thiswild country there were but two settlers for miles around. Putting in asawmill, they cut hundreds of acres of timber for lumber, and from thisbegining sprang the beautiful village of Brownsdale. For two terms Mr. H.A. Brown has represented his district in the State Legislature ofMinesota. Residence in 1905, Brownsdale, Mower Co., Minn.
