He was named after his grandfather but the spelling of his name waschanged. The name had been Sabiers, Sabbers, Sebbeus, Sabbius andSabeers. It is said that Sebeers first studied to become a doctor ofmedicine and then became a Primative Baptist Minister. This Main familyplus fifty other families moved to Missouri in March of 1876, going in animmigrant train with each family having a box car for their furniture andlive stock. Bess Welsenhunt, who was Oliver Main's daughter said thatthey came to Kansas City, then Lee Summit and then south on Hwy 71 about40 miles to Archie than west on Hwy A in Cass County to a place theynamed Main City, Everett Twp. in 1879 in the SE corner of Section 30 andthe NE corner of Section 31. A store and post office were established in1879 to 1906 and H.C. Main was the first postmaster. In 1983 there was apopulation of six and it was no longer on the map. The store/tavern hasburned down now. Sharon Cemetery is south one-half mile.
[Bob Main of Garberville, California sent some information on MainCity and HISTORY OF CASS COUNTY, page 166; Missouri Post Offices, Page34]
