The family moved to Berlin, NY in the fall of 1796 and thenmoved toSweden, NY 23 Feb 1811. Peleg was a casualty of thewar of 1812.
After selling his farm to his brother Charles, Peleg moved hisfamily from Westerly R.I. to Berlin, Rennselaer Co., N.Y. in thefall of 1796. On about 23 Feb 1811 they moved west to Sweden,Monroe Co., N.Y. where he bought a 290 acre farm. In 1814,during the war, a General Izard(?) was marching to Niagara todefend the frontier against British forces in Canada. Hepressed Mr Saunders's teams, and Mr. Saunders accompanied him totransport provisions to Fort Erie. Peleg became sick with whatthey called Camp Distemper and he died at Fort Erie on 28 Oct1814, aged55 yrs 1 mo. and 24 days. Their son Rowland tookcharge of the farm.
