      Samuel-4 Babcock, son of Capt. James-3 and Elizabeth Babcock(John-2, James-1), b. Wessterly, Feb. 15, 1697; m. May 15, 1723, Ann,dau. of Caleb Pendleton, bap. Aug. 22, 1703. (Mass. Genealogical andHistorical Society, Vol. XV.)
      Samuel was admitted freeman in Westerly, Oct. 1721. By his father'swill he received two hundred acres of land, being a part of the homesteadfarm in Westerly.
