Notes |
- George Denison was born in Hartford, Connecticut. He was baptized 20Dec 1620. He went back to England and served under Cromwell in the Armyof Parliament. He was wounded as Nasely, then nursed back to health inthe home of John Borodell. He married his daughter Ann in 1645, then wentto Roxbury, Massachusetts. Later the family settled in Stonington.
According to the Descendants of George Denison, he was a greater morebrilliant soldier than Miles Standish. He had no equal in war on theIndians except Capt. James Mason. According to Miss Caulkins in theHistory of New London: "Our early history presents no character ofbolder and more active spirit than Capt George Denison. He reminds of theborder men of Scotland. He was always in demand and served in manyimportant positions."
