- Will of Joseph A. Yerrington
I, Joseph A. Yerrington of the town of Norwich County of New London and
State of Connecticut being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make
this my last will and testament : as follows:
I give, devise and bequeath the use, rent and income of all my proper to
my wife Mary P Yerrington during her natural life. And at her decease to
each of my three daughters I give the use and income of two thousand dollars
during their natural lives, as their sole and separate estate and their
scripts are to be a full discharge to my executor for said use and income.
Upon the death of either of my said daughters, I give and bequeath the
said sum of two thousand dollars to her children if she shall bear children
and if not the said sum of two thousand dollars shall be divided equally
between the children of my surviving daughters to them and their heirs
forever.
To my son Charles A Yerrington, I give and bequeath the sum of two thousand
dollars to him and his heirs forever and in case of his death before my
decease then to his children equally.
To my son Henry W Yerrington, I give and bequeath the sum of one thousand
dollars to him and his heirs forever and in case of his death before my
decease then to his children equally meaning by the last two bequests to
make the amount given to said sons equal to that given to my other sons.
To my grand children Ransom L Yerrington and his sister Louisa I give and
bequeath the sum of five hundred dollars each to them and their heirs forever.
All the rest and residue of my property I give, devise and bequeath to
my four sons to be equally divided between them and in case of either of
my said sons shall die before my decease I give devise and bequeath the
one fourth part of said rest and residue to the children of said deceased
son, to them and their heirs forever. Hereby qualify the 2nd clause of
this will by giving to each of my said daughters any part or the whole
of said $2000, if it be necessary to their comfort and support.
I hereby constitute and appoint Charles A. Yerrington and Stephen N Yerrington
the executors and trustees of my last will and testament hereby evoking
all former wills by me heretofore made.
In witness where of I have thereto set my hand and seal this 29the day
of June AD 1870. Signed, sealed and declared by the said Joseph A Yerrington
as for his last will and testament in our presence who in his promised
sight and in presence of each other have hereunto set our names as witnesses.
