ROY WILLIAMS - North Stonington - Funeral arrangements have beencompleted for Roy Philip Williams, 72, who died Monday after collapsingwhile cutting wood at his home on Northwest Corner Road.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at The DinotoFuneral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic. Burial will be in Avery Cemetery,Preston. There are no calling hours.
A native of Ledyard, he was born Jan. 12, 1919, the son of JosephPlamer and Annis Main Williams.
Mr. Williams received his early education in the Ledyard schoolsystem and was a 1938 graduate of Robert E. Fitch Sr. High School inGroton.
Before his retirement in 1977, he had been employed at Electric Boatas an outside driller.
He was an avid outdoorsman and a longtime member of the NationalRifle Association. He also enjoyed raising pine trees for Christmas.
He was married to the former Vivian Stanton Avery on March 24, 1943,in Stonington.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Joseph R. Williams ofPawcatuck, two daughters Kathrny Avery Wittig of Hope Valley, RI andDebra Ann Gabriele of North Stonington; a brother Harold Williams ofLedyard; two sisters Hulda Campo of Ledyard and Jennie Coates of Maine;five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
