MILDRED MINER - October 17, 1987
Mildred (Pierce) Avery Miner, 78, of 18 Stanton Ave., Norwichformerly of Ledyard, died Saturday at her home. She was the widow of Donald Avery and Leon Miner, and the sister of Clara Kenyon of Westerly.
Born in Ledyard, Sept. 4, 1909, she was the daughter of the lateChester and Mary Stanton Main Pierce.
Mrs. Miner was employed in the housekeeping department of theConvalescent Center of Norwich, and was formerly employed as a bus driverwith the Seaside Regional Center in Waterford and the Town of Ledyard Department of Education. She had also worked as a cook at the Dew DropInn Restaurant in North Stonington.
She was a member of the Ledyard Garange, the New London CountyPomona Grange and the Ledyard Congregational Church.
In addition to her sister in Westerly, survivors include five sons.Warren Avery of Ledyard, Lawrence A. Avery of Norwich, Alvin Avery of Taftville, and Donald Avery and Charles Avery, both of New Hampshire;another niece, May Roberts of Sterling, Conn.; nine grandchilden and twenty great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted in Avery-Stoddard Cemetery,Ledyard, Tuesday at 11 a.m. Visiting hours at the Church & Allen-DinotoFuneral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic, Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
