      1. Edmund is a Mayflower descendant (John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley)and a Son of the American Revolution (SAR) (Samuel Chesebrough,1743-1811).

      2. 1900 US census shows Edmund's mother, Phebe Eights Cobb, and father,Albert Chesebro' born in Connecticut with his birth date as May, 1852.The birth date is contrary to the Wildey book source and the family biblementioned below. We have chosen the family bible for Edmund's birthdate.

      3. Edmund clerked for Thomas Benton Brown in Brown & Company's Petrolia,Pennsylvania store beginning in 1876 when he first came to Pennsylvaniaand there apparently met his future wife, Salina Jane Brown. Edmund andJames M. Brown were principals of the company along with Thomas in the1880's. Edmund bought the store outright, becoming the sole proprietorin 1896.

      4. Phebe Eights Cobb Chesebro' gave Edmund and Lina their family bibleChristmas 1879 as recorded in the bible. Her entry, confirming theapostrophe, was:

      "Lina & Ed
      From Mother Chesebro'
      Christmas 1879"

      5. A property indenture confirms Edmund's lot in Petrolia, Pennsylvania(1882) .

      6. Quit claim deed in Petrolia, Pennsylvania signed with the apostrophein Edmund's signature confirms the use of an apostrophe to represent theshortened name in 1890.

      7. "Edward" on Edmund's and Lina's marriage certificate is an exampleof so many documents with misspellings.

      8. Gas and oil lease of farm contains Edmund's apostrophe signature in1902.

      9. Edmund's will is dated May 10, 1916 and was probated June 6, 1917 inButler County, Pennsylvania with his wife, Lina Jane Brown Chesebro'appointed executrix.

      10. Edmund's grave site is in East Brady, Pennsylvania.

      11. Edmund's death memorial plaque misspells name - "Edward P.Chesbro".[lanastl2.ged]
