MILITARY:
Served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served as a Coxswain aboard the Destroyer No. 517, U.S.S Walker. This destroyer was credited, in sinking one Japanese submarine and shouting down five enemy planes in the South Pacific. His ship, the U.S.S. Walker, escorted President Roosevelt across the Atlantic Ocean to the Yalta Conference with British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin.
