LEDYARD - Hollis "Holly" Ann Ellis, 43, of 8 Riverside Place diedFriday morning after a long courageous fight with cancer.
She was born Nov. 24, 1954, in Key West, Fla., a daughter of Frances(Denker) Ellis of Gales Ferry and the late Robert W. Ellis.
Ms. Ellis returned to Gales Ferry early this year from Annapolis,Md., where she resided on the Severn River.
A 1972 graduate of Ledyard High School, she earned a bachelor ofarts degree in political science from the University of Connecticut in1978 and a masters of Business administration from RensselaerPolytechnieal Institute.
Ms. Ellis was employed by United Nuclear Corp. from 1978 - 1992holding various technical and human resources assignments. From1987-1992, she was manager of emplouee relations/recruiting having theresponsibility for staffing one of the most sophisticated state of theart manufacturing facilities in the world.
dIn 1993, she was promoted to vice president of human resources inUNC Tri-Manufacturing Facility in Terre Haute, Ind., and subsequently waspromoted to vice president of human resources for Lear Siegler CorporateOffice in Annapolis UNC Lear Stegler is the largest UNC division,providing military services throughout the world.
In addition to her mother survivors include a brother William W.Ellis of Anchorage, Alaska, and a sister, Susan M. Billings of GalesFerry with whom she made her home.
Also survived by two nieces, Katherine Billings and Adrenne Ellisand one nephew, Kaelin Ellis. Callinghours are Monday from 6-9 p.m. atGales Ferry Funeral Home of Church and Allen, Hurlbutt Road, Gales Ferry.Burial 10 a.m. Tuesday at Gales Ferry Cemetery. Donations may be made inher name to either the American Cancer Society or the Connecticut HumaneSociety.
