ROGERS, JAMES, New London, is by Miss Caulkins thought to be that passeng[er]. in the Increase from London, 1635, aged 20, and was early at Stratford, there m[arried]. Elizabeth d[aughter]. of Samuel Rowland, rem[oved]. to Milford, had Samuel, b[orn]. a[bout]. 1640; Joseph, bapt[ized]. 1646; John, 1648; Bathsheba, 1650; James, a[bout]. 1652; Jonathan, b[orn]. 31 Dec. 1655; and Elizabeth 1658; soon aft[er]. he rem[oved]. to N[ew]. L[ondon]. was the richest man in the settl[e]m[ent]. after Gov. Winthrop freem[en]. 1660, rep[resentative]. 1661-8 and in 1676, began to make with his childr[en]. much opposit[ion]. to inf[ant]. bapt[ism]. and d[ied]. a[bout]. 1688. bathsheba m[arried]. 4 Mar. 1670, Richard Smith of N[ew]. L[ondon]. and next Samuel Fox as his third w[ife]. and Elizabeth m[arried]. 9 Feb. 1682, the sec[ond]. Samuel Beeby. From this man, thro[ugh]. his fifth s[on]. Jonathan, is deriv[ed]. the ancient imperfect vol[ume]. contain[ing]. the Psalms and New Testam[ent]. with a ch[urch]. liturgy tho[ugh]t. to be of the days of Edward VI.
