Baptized, St. Peter's (Anglican) Church. Her father had served as warden there for many years.
she was 9 years old when her father died at Derry, and it is believed that her mother reutrned her former home at Haverhill, Mass. with the children. That is probably why it has not been determined where their wedding took place.
Harrison Carr remembers his grandmother: "the brave beauty and wit, Sallie Kast." She was so beloved that her name is still passed through her descendants.
Cemeteries of Madison County, Alabama: Whitman Cemetery - New Market on Jacks Road - Sarah K. Whitman, Born in Salem, Mass. April 3, 1772 and died at New Market, Alabama, May 6, 1863.
