      LEDYARD - Ruth E. Maynard, 70, of 17 River Drive, Gales Ferry diedtoday at her home.
      A native of Ledyard, she was born May 18, 1916, the daughter of Amosand Frances Spicer Main.
      She was married to Franklin E. Maynard Oct. 14, 1938, in Ledyard.
      Mr. Maynard was a cafeteria worker at the Gales Ferry School beforeher retirement.
      She was a member of the Ledyard Nursing Board of 6 1/2 years and avolunteer for the Well-Child Conference Program. She was a former memberof the Ledyard and Gales Ferry Schools Parent-Teacher Associations andwas a former Den Mother of Cub Scouts. She was a 1935 graduate of NorwichFree Academy.
      Besides her husband, survivors include two sons, Robert ofChattanooga, Tenn. and Raymond Maynard of Gales Ferry; a daughter,Cynthia Payne of Norwich; a brother, Raymond Main and a sister, EthelBabcock, both of Gales Ferry and five grandchildren.
      The Gales Ferry Funeral Home of Church & Allen is in charge ofarrangements, which are incomplete.
