Daniel and Anna conveyed their homestead estate to him and it is presumed that their last days were spent with him. This homestead portion was the so called "Gates Farm," which Stephen Gates bought of an Indian in 1684. The original instrument, engrossed on parchment and in good preservation, is still in existence in Stow.
